The South Jordan Midas Creek Stake has been asked to provide at least 4 senior couples to serve in part-time service mission positions in the Salt Lake City Inner City Mission while living at home. Single senior individ-uals may also be considered. Details about these immediate opportunities are provided below.

QUALIFICATIONS

Church-service missionaries need to have a strong testimony of the gospel; a desire to serve, a willingness to not judge others, and must be temple-worthy. They should have the ability to mentor others with love and patience and to take direction from others. Training and orientation to the specifics of the assignments will be provided. Spanish language skills are helpful, but not required.

Need to be able to serve 8 to 12 hours per week and for a period of at least 12 months.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Church-service missionaries serve in a Ward, Branch, or Correctional Facility. They serve under the direction of a Bishop or Branch President and function under his direction. Church-service missionaries generally help individuals overcome personal challenges, improve their lives and “get back on their feet.” They help individuals better understand gospel principles and prepare to receive the blessings of temple attendance. May be asked to offer counsel on budgeting or finding better employment, provide instruction on basic life skills, provide transportation, or other items as assigned by the bishop. Includes attending assigned ward or branch on Sunday and possibly serving one or two nights per week.
